What is a QR Code?
“QR” is short for Quick Response. A QR Code is a graphic image, much like a barcode, that can be read quickly by a mobile device. You will need to download an app specifically for use on your mobile device in order to read QR Codes. There are many free applications out there for multiple mobile devices that allow you to not only read QR codes but generate them yourself.
They are more useful than a bar code as they can hold & display much more information such as links, text, images, contact information and geographic coordinates.
Why should you be Using QR Codes?
Small, medium and large sized businesses alike should be incorporating QR Codes into their marketing pieces. By now you have probably seen them in magazines, billboards, web pages and even t-shirts and business cards. Here are some common pieces of information QR codes contain:
- Contact Info (place a code on your business cards)
- Promos or Coupons
- Videos or Infographics
- Event Details
- Product Information
- Helpful Tips and How To’s
- Social Media Pages/ID’s
While not considered mainstream just yet – they will be. Using them now in your marketing & advertising initiatives will define you as a tech savvy and modern company, which is always appreciated by prospects.
